Winter Storm Expected To Disrupt Travel Plans Later This Week
(CBS) -- Despite Monday's snowfall, it is looking to be the best day for holiday travel between now and Thanksgiving.
AccuWeather meteorologist Bob Larson reports the reason for that is a large developing storm taking shape over the Gulf Coast states that will spread heavy rain over the Deep Southeast late Monday night and Tuesday along with gusty winds. This will cause delays throughout Georgia including Atlanta northward and throughout the Carolinas.
The heavy rain will reach Washington, Baltimore and even New York City late Tuesday afternoon along with gusty winds that will cause flight delays. Mixed precipitation including snow is expected across interior portions of the Mid-Atlantic during the day Tuesday and spreading northward across New York state.
Across the interior Northeast including central and northern New England could see snow and wind on Wednesday, affecting Boston and Philadelphia.
Significant travel delays are anticipated along the Eastern Seaboard on Wednesday.
