Winnetka Village Trustee Busted For Allegedly Driving Drunk In Skokie
SKOKIE, Ill. (CBS) -- A Winnetka village trustee was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was pulled over for a traffic stop in Skokie early this past Thursday morning.
As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Marsett reports, Skokie police say Jennifer Spinney was arrested just a few hours after she attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new business in Winnetka.
Police first found Spinney was first seen driving east on Dempster Street, then turned left on McCormick Boulevard at a speed of 25 mph. The speed limit in the area is 40 mph.
Half a mile away, on McCormick Boulevard just north of Church Street, Spinney's passenger tires slammed into the curb, while her car swerved into the center lane. Upon seeing that, police pulled Spinney over at 2 a.m., according to Skokie police Sgt. Mike Healy.
Spinney refused a breathalyzer and all other chemical tests.
Spinney posted bail and that evening attended a village council meeting. She is due back in court on Oct. 19.
