Windy Wednesday Expected After Tuesday Storms
(CBS) -- Hold on to your hats, Chicago.
On the heels of Tuesday night's thunderstorms, strong winds have started blowing through Chicago, and were expected to continue buffeting the area through Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service originally issued a High Wind Warning for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, and eight other counties in northern Illinois on Wednesday, but that was later downgraded to a Wind Advisory, meaning winds were proving to be less intense than first expected. The wind advisory covers virtually all of northern and central Illinois and northern and Central Indiana until 8 p.m. Chicago time.
Winds already were gusting up to more than 45 mph at O'Hare International Airport early Wednesday, and up to nearly 40 mph at Midway International Airport.
So, if you've already started putting out some lawn furniture, you might want to tie it down or bring it back inside so it doesn't get blown around your yard (or into your neighbor's yard).
Once the winds die down Wednesday night, the weather for the rest of this week looks pretty normal for this time of year.
Thursday will be a bit milder than normal, with a high around 51, and a slight chance of showers. The rest of the week should be dry with highs in the low 40s into the start of next week.
