Strong winds into Tuesday evening, winds pick up again Wednesday in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — A short window opens late Tuesday for very windy conditions.
Gusts may reach up to 45 mph with locally some gusts near 55 mph.
The highest winds hit in the afternoon and early evening through 6 p.m. This aids in an elevated fire danger risk for brush fires to get out of control.
Winds eventually relax overnight (briefly) and pick up again for Wednesday with gusts near 30 mph. A front drops in Tuesday night, bringing slightly cooler temperatures with it.
Temperatures for Wednesday stay above normal in the lower 40s.
The warmest day of the week arrives Thursday with highs near 50 degrees. The record for that day is 55°, set back in 1988.
Our next weathermaker approaches Thursday night into Friday. Showers overnight into Friday become widespread. Some snow may mix but most of the precipitation stays in the form of rain.
It will be clearing out of the weekend, and turning colder for Saturday as temperatures moderate to the 40s by Sunday.
