Wilmette Man Pleads Guilty To Christmas Day Murder Of Aunt
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Wilmette man has been convicted and sentenced to prison for the beating death of his aunt on Christmas Day.
Anthony Rapoport, 25, pleaded guilty today to the murder of Nancee Rapoport, 49, which occurred as the two argued on Christmas Day last year in their home in Wilmette, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
Rapoport pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison during his court appearance at the Cook County Circuit Courthouse in Skokie.
Nancee Rapoport and the defendant lived together in a house in the 3100 Block of Hill Lane in Wilmette with several other relatives.
On December 25, 2010, the victim and the defendant got into an argument over money and cell phones. As the argument escalated, Rapoport went to a closet in the home and retrieved a baseball bat. He swung the bat and struck Nancee Rapoport once in the head and then struck her again after she fell to the ground.
