Willie Gault's Stolen Super Bowl Ring Recovered At L.A. Jewelry Store
LOS ANGELES (CBS) -- Willie Gault's 1985 Super Bowl ring is back in the hands of the retired Bears and Raiders wide receiver.
The ring turned up in a downtown Los Angeles jewelry store, where a source who deals in sports memorabilia spotted it and a second Super Bowl ring, from the 1983 Washington Redskins.
An LAPD spokesperson said the expert called burglary detectives, who seized the rings and arrested the shop's owner, 46-year-old Ramin Cohan of Beverly Hills, Cal., and charged him with receiving stolen property.
He was released on $20,000 bond.
Police still don't know who stole the ring, and $100,000 in other jewelry belonging to Gault, during a Nov. 8 break-in at his Los Angeles home. Gault also gets back a wedding ring and five watches.
Gault played for the Bears 1983-87 and the Los Angeles Raiders 1988-93. He was an Olympic-caliber sprinter before being drafted by the Bears and holds age-group world records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Detectives still seek the owner of the Redskins ring.
