Will County Forms Task Force To Investigate Sex Harassment
The new panel stems from an infamous case at warehouse in Elwood where a worker alleged she'd been forced to have sex with the owner's son. Her lawsuit has been settled but, left unsettled is the question of how prevalent such cases are.
Will County board member Denise Winfrey, a member of the task force, says based on what she's heard so far, it's all too common.
"The incidence of sexual harassment was extremely high and that women were taking it in order to maintain the job," said Winfrey.
Winfrey says the goal of the task force which includes two county board members and two Joliet council members, is to document the problem and send a message.
"We have zero tolerance for sexual harassment in Will County," said Winfrey.
