White Sox Unveil Two-Foot-Long Hot Dog
(CBS) In honor of National Hot Dog and Sausage Month, the White Sox have introduced the "Giant Slugger" hot dog at U.S. Cellular Field.
On July 4, the one pound, two-foot-long Giant Slugger will be featured in a hot dog eating competition, prior to the game vs. Texas at 6:10 p.m. Fans looking to participate in the competition, which features a grand prize of four suite tickets, a customized jersey and an autographed baseball should tweet @WhiteSox, using the hashtag #GiantSlugger.
Created to serve as many as four people, the Giant Slugger is composed of Vienna Beef and topped with nacho cheese, chili, grilled onions, and jalapenos – served in a 22-inch potato bun. White Sox fans can look for the Giant Slugger at portable hot dog stands near sections 109 and 538 for $26.
The current individual record for consuming a Giant Slugger stands at 19 minutes – a time set at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington during a duel between two of the region's media outlets.
