White Sox Top Twins In Rare Road Win

(CBS) The Chicago White Sox jumped out early, riding a couple of home runs in the third inning, to defeat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 on Friday.

The victory was a rare one against the Twins for Chicago.

Going into the game, Minnesota led the season series 9-3, including having won four of their six home meetings.

Chicago snaped its season-worst, 10-game road losing streak.

Adam Dunn and Jeff Keppinger both homered in the third inning, putting the Sox up 4-1 early.

It was Dunn's 28th home run this season.

Jose Quintana improved to 7-4 with the win.

Other notes:

The White Sox have had seven or more hits in 11 straight games, which is tied with the Detroit Tigers for the longest active streak in the majors.

The Twins lead the majors with 22 home runs so far in August. The last time they led the majors in home runs in any single month was back in May 1986 (49 HR).

Alexei Ramirez is batting .392 (20/51) with seven runs and nine RBI during his current 11-game hitting streak. This is Ramirez's longest single-season batting streak since his career-long 15-game one, August 6-21, 2010.

Joe Mauer tied his career high for hits in a game when he had five against the Indians on Wednesday. Mauer's five career 5+ hit games are tied with Juan Pierre, Alfonso Soriano and Alex Rodriguez for the second most by an active player (Ichiro Suzuki -- 7).
