White Sox Still Looking To 'Click On All Cylinders'
(WSCR) First baseman Paul Konerko had another big game in what is becoming another big season. But despite his home run, three hits and two RBI, the White Sox still fell 5-3 to the Kansas City Royals.
Konerko wasn't the only player to have a good offensive day for the White Sox, five players had multiple hits, but Tuesday was simply another game in what is becoming a frustrating trend.
"I don't know the last time we really score like, a lot of runs," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I only remember a couple games: It was opening day and I think in Boston. ... But right now, we struggle getting big hits."
The White Sox rank ninth in the American League with 351 runs scored (4.03 per game) and have only scored double-digit runs in a game three times, although they have scored eight and nine runs a handful of times as well.
It's their pitching (3.81 team ERA) that has helped keep them competitive, but until the offense provides consistent run support, not much will change for the White Sox.
"We just don't seem to click on all cylinders," pitcher Jake Peavy said. "And I think it's going to happen."
