White Sox Still Hoping Dunn Will Break Out

CHICAGO (WSCR) Adam Dunn's 0-for-4 game, including three strikeouts, in Monday night's loss to the Cubs is something that White Sox fans are getting familiar with.

"You start to just hope things will turn around, you know, for his sake," White Sox reliever Jesse Crain said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "He's been around for a long time, and all you can do is hope he puts the work in, which he is, and things will turn around."

The usually consistent slugger is having an uncharacteristically bad season: Hitting just .178 with seven home runs, 29 RBI and a .319 on-base percentage.

"He's played too long and been too good for this to happen all year," Crain said. "So hopefully it's just one of those things where something will click here pretty soon and he'll go on a roll. You know, you go through streaks during the season and he's been on a rough one, and hopefully, you know, one of these days things turn around and, you know, he starts hitting the ball.

"That'd be huge for the team. I mean, we actually need him, we need him offensively to drive in those runs and stuff."

While some White Sox fans may have given up hope, Crain still believes his teammate will start to hit like he has in the past.

"I really truly believe that it's going to happen here, you know, one of these days," Crain said.
