White Sox Promote Buddy Bell, 2 Others
(CBS) The White Sox promoted three employees in player development Monday, including Buddy Bell.
Bell was promoted to Vice President, Player Development and Special Assignments, while Nick Capra was promoted to Bell's previous post, Director of Player Development. Meanwhile, Kirk Champion was promoted from minor-league pitching coordinator to of minor-league field coordinator, the position previously held by Capra.
"Since he rejoined the White Sox, Buddy's role in the organization has continually evolved and expanded," White Sox general manager Ken Williams said. "Buddy and his staff have played an integral part in developing our young talent, and he has been a great resource for me on special scouting assignments as well. This move reflects the confidence we have in Buddy, as well as Nick and Kirk, who have been very successful and have been well-respected members of our organization for many years."
2012 will be Bell's fifth consecutive season with the White Sox and eighth overall. He will continue to oversee all facets of the White Sox player development and minor league system. Capra has been in the organization 16 years, while Champion has been with the White Sox for nine years.
