All-Stars: White Sox's Sale, Konerko, Dunn; Cubs' LaHair, Castro
CHICAGO (CBS) Chicago baseball will be well-represented at this year's All-Star Game.
The Chicago White Sox have three All-Stars. The Cubs have two.
White Sox Left-hander Chris Sale, first baseman Paul Konerko and designated hitter Adam Dunn were named Sunday to the American League All-Star team. Cubs' first baseman Bryan LaHair and shortstop Starlin Castro also made the squad.
Konerko, a six-time All Star, is batting .335 with 14 homers and 40 RBIs. Dunn, who will make his second All-Star appearance, rebounded from his disappointing season last year by hitting 24 homers and collecting 58 RBIs this season.
Chris Sale is making his All-Star debut after putting together 9-2 record with a 2.27 ERA.
Starter Jake Peavy was no selected, but is one of the five candidates on the AL Final Vote ballot, trying to join Scott Podsednik (2005), Pierzynski ('06) and Konerko ('11) as previous White Sox winners.
The All-Star Game will be on July 10 in Kansas City. There are 34 spots on each roster.
