White Sox Officially Announce Players Involved In Ozzie Trade
(CBS) The White Sox officially announced the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Jhan Marinez and infielder Ozzie Martinez from the Florida Marlins Thursday.
The two players come over as compensation for the Marlins receiving permission to negotiate with former manager Ozzie Guillen. The deal was contingent on the Marlins reaching an agreement with Guillen to become their manager.
The White Sox also sent right-handed pitcher Ricardo Andres to Florida in the deal.
Marinez, 23, was 3-8 with 3.57 ERA in 56 relief appearances with Double-A Jacksonville in 2011. He also played in the MLB All-Star Futures Game this season.
Martinez, 23, racked up just three hits in 20 at-bats with the Marlins this season. He spent most of the season with Triple-A New Orleans, hitting .245 with 15 doubles and 26 RBIs in 88 games. He was the Marlins Minor League Player of the Year in 2010.
