White Sox Notes: Morel Scratched, Viciedo Unlikely To Start This Weekend

WRIGLEY FIELD (CBS) The White Sox lineup continues to be inconsistent, so losing the designated hitter in a National League ballpark isn't exactly an elixir.
As expected, manager Robin Ventura opted to put Adam Dunn in left-field Friday against the Cubs to keep him in the lineup, but that meant losing Dayan Viciedo who is 8-for-16 with three home runs and seven RBIs in his last four games.
Many wondered if Ventura would opt to play Viciedo at third base -- where he started his career -- instead of Brent Morel, but that's not happening. Morel was originally in Friday's lineup, but was scratched late with his on-going back issues and was replaced by Eduardo Escobar.
In fact, it doesn't appear Viciedo will start any of the three games at Wrigley Field this weekend.
"It depends, we'll see how Adam does out there," Ventura said. "As of now, probably not, but we'll see how it goes."
That comment was made before Morel was scratched, but it doesn't appear the White Sox have any interest in moving Viciedo back to the third base.
Morel has been battling the back issue since spring training. An MRI was done last week and a stint on the disabled list was discussed.
