White Sox GM Rick Hahn: 'Messages Have Been Sent'
(WSCR) After crawling back to .500 a week ago, the White Sox (24-30) have now lost six straight games, including three to the 23-32 Cubs.
The poor play this season has made many wonder if drastic changes might be in store for the White Sox's roster in the near future.
White Sox general manager Rick Hahn joined Hit & Run on 670 The Score Sunday morning and admitted he is very disappointed with his team's lack of execution offensively and defensively this season. He also said there has been a "lack of energy" at times and that has led to him sending clear messages to some players on the roster.
"It has led to individual meetings with certain players held by Robin and his staff -- a couple of which I have been involved in, a couple of which the coaching staff as handled -- to send a very clear message about what our expectations are of these individuals and if we don't see improvement in the near future that some guys who were counting on spending their summers in Chicago very likely won't be," Hahn said.
The GM insists he isn't ready to give up on this team yet, but changes could be coming very shortly if there isn't an improvement soon.
"We are going to be patient," Hahn said. "We are going to give this team a chance to live up to its potential, but at the same time, messages have been sent that we expect that improvement to take place in the very near future."
