White Sox Don't Need Dunn 'To Be The Superstar Of The Team'
CHICAGO (WSCR) When the Chicago White Sox signed Adam Dunn, it was seen as a move that would instantly improve their offense. At this point in the season, Dunn's struggles have been well chronicled.
Some attribute his struggles to the switch to the American League, or the adjustment to designated hitting, or to his early season appendectomy.
"It's worth noting, it is a fact, he has never in his career played a full season for a winning team," Jon Paul Morosi, of FOXSports.com, said on the Mully and Hanley Show.
"But on the same token, he was also, on a lot of those Reds teams, the best hitter. So, I mean, did he ever in the past carry a team to the playoffs or a division title? No, he really did not do that...I think still though, the White Sox are more than anything else, kind asking him to be one of the guys. I don't think that, really, they signed him with the thought being that he was going to have to be the one and only guy. To me, this is still Paul Konerko's team."

Konerko has been nearly as good (.318 BA, 14 HR, 47 RBI and .392 OBP) as Dunn has been bad (.176 BA, 5 HR, 23 RBI and .314 OBP).
"Really, they just need Dunn to kind of just settle in there, right with Konerko," Morosi said. "They don't need him to be the superstar of the team. I just think they need him to get his numbers, if he even hits .240 with 25 home runs, I think at this point and time, they'd certainly take that."
