White Sox Claim Outfielder Jerry Sands

(CBS) The White Sox added to their 40-man roster Wednesday, claiming outfielder Jerry Sands off waivers from the Indians.

Sands batted .236 (29-of-132) with four home runs, 19 RBIs and 11 scored runs in 50 games with Cleveland in 2015. The 29-year-old Sands has played four seasons with the Dodgers, Rays and Indians.

In Sands, the White Sox have added outfield depth after trading outfielder Trayce Thompson to the Dodgers recently in a three-team deal that brought All-Star third baseman to Chicago.

With Sands, the White Sox have a 40-man roster that stands at 37.
