White Sox Claim OF J.B. Shuck Off Waivers
(CBS) The White Sox have claimed outfielder J.B. Shuck off waivers from the Indians, they announced Monday afternoon.
Chicago also reinstated reliever Nate Jones from the 60-day disabled list. Its 40-man roster now sits at 37 players.
The 27-year-old Shuck spent most of his 2014 at Triple-A Salt Lake in the Angels organization, hitting .320 with five homers and 57 RBIs in 102 games.
In 38 big league games last year, the left-handed hitting Shuck batted .145 with two homers and nine RBIs. The Indians claimed him off waivers from the Angels on Sept. 5.
In 2013, Shuck hit .293 with with two homers, 39 RBIs and 60 runs for the Angels. He's a career .264 hitter.
The 28-year-old Jones made just two appearances for the White Sox in 2014, as he dealt with a muscle strain in his left hip.
