White Sox Claim Elmore Off Waivers; Add Sanchez, Thompson To 40-Man Roster
(CBS) The White Sox have claimed infielder Jake Elmore off waivers from the Astros and purchased the contracts of infielder Carlos Sanchez and outfielder Trayce Thompson from Triple-A Charlotte.
The 26-year-old Elmore hit .242 (29-120) with two home runs, six RBIs and 16 runs in 52 games with the Astros in 2013.
He also played all nine positions during the 2013 season.
The 21-year-old Sanchez spent all of 2013 with Charlotte, hitting .241 with 20 doubles, two triples, 28 RBI, 50 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 112 games.
Thompson, 22, spent last season with Double-A Birmingham, hitting .229 with 23 doubles, five triples, 15 home runs, 73 RBIs, 78 runs scored and 25 stolen bases over 135 games.
