White Sox Call Up Heath, Now Have 10 Rookies On Roster
(CBS) The White Sox have called up right-handed pitcher Deunte Heath from Triple-A Charolette to take the roster spot of Jesse Crain, who was sent to the disabled list Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Heath is 4-2 with a 1.70 ERA (8 ER/42.1 IP), one save and 46 strikeouts in 22 games (three starts) with the Knights this season. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder has held opponents to a .199 average.
Heath, who was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on April 22, 2010, will wear uniform No. 60. He has no major-league experience.
With the call up of Heath, the White Sox now have 10 rookies on their 25-man roster.
