White Sox Are 'Running Out Time'

(WSCR) The White Sox open officially open the second half of their season on Friday, and after the first 92 games of the season, there's significantly less optimism than there was during spring training.

"It's go time," Daryl Van Schouwen, of the Chicago Sun-Times, said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "I think it was go time a couple of weeks ago for them, but obviously, they're running out of time here."

The White Sox have 70 games left on their schedule and the first 12 of those games will be against divisional opponents, including six games against the Detroit Tiger who are tied with the Cleveland Indians for first place in the division.

"[It's] an important stretch here against Detroit and a few other AL Central teams," Van Schouwen said. "You know, when they're done with those guys they've got Boston and New York, but they have to take care of business in their own division."

The White Sox have struggled for most of the season, but what's been more troubling than their overall record, has been their record agaisnt other AL Central teams (8-16).

"They are quite fortunate, as everybody knows, to be only five games out of first place, even through they're four games under .500," Van Schouwen said.
