White Sox Agree To 3-Year Deal With Santos
(CBS) The White Sox locked up their closer long-term Friday.
After racking up 30 saves in 2011, the White Sox rewarded Sergio Santos with a three-year, $8.25 million contract with club options for 2015-17.
Santos, 28, went 4-5 with a 3.55 ERA in 63 appearances in 2011. His 92 strikeouts ranked second among American League relievers.
The contract extension means Santos will avoid arbitration. He will receive $1 million in 2012, $2.75 million in 2013 and $3.75 million in 2014. The club's option for 2015 is worth $6 million, the 2016 option is worth $8 million and the 2017 option is worth $8.75 million.
Santos will receiver a $750,000 buyout if any of the options are declined.
