White Sox Activate Abreu From DL
(CBS) As expected, the White Sox activated first baseman Jose Abreu from the 15-day disabled list on Monday afternoon, they announced.
Abreu has been on the DL since May 18 with posterior tibia tendinitis in his left ankle. He was baseball's best slugger before the injury, ranking first in homers and second in RBIs at the time of his injury. All told, he's hitting .260 with 15 homers and 42 RBIs in 44 games this season. Abreu was the AL Player of the Month in April.
The White Sox optioned infielder Marcus Semien to Triple-A Charlotte yesterday to make room for Abreu.
The White Sox face the Dodgers in Los Angeles tonight.
