White-Collar Man Robs Bank At Gunpoint
HOMEWOOD, Ill. (STMW) -- A man wearing a suit and tie appeared to be smiling as he robbed a bank branch inside a south suburban grocery at gunpoint Friday afternoon.
The robbery occurred abut 1:30 p.m. on May 13 at the MB Financial Bank branch inside Walt's Food Center at 2345 W. 183rd St., according to the FBI.
The suspect is a bald white man, between 6-foot and 6-foot-2, with a beard, according to the FBI. He was wearing glasses, a blue suit and tie, and carrying a black pistol, the FBI said.
Surveillance photos of the suspect, who was smiling during the robbery, show him also wearing a white badge clipped to the left breast area of the jacket.
FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates said the suspect approached the teller, showed his gun and threatened to shoot if he was not given cash. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured in the incident, which was not a takeover-style robbery as originally reported. Yates classified it as an "oral demand with threats."
