Just weeks ago, Pardonnet was handling media inquires on the expansion of the Metra Web site. If a problem exists, it was not evident at the Metra Board meeting last month, where she was talking about the goals for the Web site for 2012.

The new boss, Metra Communications and Marketing Director Robert Carlton, says Pardonnet is just off for a few days. He insisted in a conversation last week with WBBM Newsradio that there have been no personnel changes in the office, which also oversees the Metra Web site.

Carlton answered Pardonnet's office phone, and wanted to know what WBBM Newsradio had heard about her departure – rumors and reports that could make headlines if true.

Pardonnet is not responding to e-mails, and her voicemail box has been full for days.
