Where Has Major Wright Been?

Major Wright was a third round draft pick, but he was also the Bears' first draft pick of the 2010 draft (the Bears traded their first round pick for Jay Cutler and their second round pick for Gaines Adams).

While Wright wasn't a first round pick, he was a player coming out of college that many thought could earn a starting job when he entered training camp. That hasn't happened to this point, but Wright has been getting chances to make plays.

"The thing I've seen with Major Wright is the he seems to be playing awful deep," Brad Biggs said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "He's just not around the ball like he was in training camp. You walked away from practice everyday and there was at least one play, fresh in your mind where you said 'Wow, this guy is going to be a playmaker. He's got a knack for being around the ball, for being in the action.' And we just haven't seen that in these games."

It's difficult to say what exactly is holding Wright back from being the player we saw in training camp. Wright did suffer a hand injury during the preseason, but that shouldn't have any lingering effects.

"Granted he hasn't been out there the whole time, but they've been trying to work him in," Biggs said. The Bears have been working him in, that much we know. But, it's always hard to get a read on Lovie Smith and his decisions leading up to games.

"It's a possibility," Biggs said of Wright starting this week. "But, he's been given opportunities for several weeks now and my main reaction walking away from these games is; I know he was out there, but I'm not sure what he did."
