Where Does Ozzie Rank Among AL's Best Managers?
CHICAGO (WSCR) -- In his eighth season as manager of the Chicago White Sox, Ozzie Guillen has a 607-543 record, two division titles, two playoff appearances and one World Series title.
But in the conversation of the top five managers in the American League, where does Guillen stack up?
"I think Ozzie is definitely right up there," Joe Cowley, of the Chicago Sun-Times, said on the Danny Mac Show. "If not in the top five, right on the fringe. I think the Xs and Os with him are completely underrated.
"I think he does put guys in position to succeed. That's all a manager can do, put the right guy in the right position to succeed. If he doesn't succeed that's not the manager's fault, and that's what gets lost with some people."

Guillen doesn't always make the safe or predicable managerial move. He trusts his instincts as a manager and his relationship with his players to influence what he does during a game.
"It's not all by the book," Cowley said. "And that's why I think Ozzie has a good feel for his players, and when to put them in, and when to put them in position to succeed. And that gets lost in a lot of ways."
