Where Do The Bears Need To Improve?
The Chicago Bears' offseason will start about two weeks earlier than most fans and players had expected. But since the offseason has arrived it's time to look ahead to next season, and where they will need to improve.
From listening to the way Bears' general manager Jerry Angelo talks, he doesn't see a need for drastic changes need to the roster. After an 11-5 regular season, and after reaching the conference championship game, Angelo probably feels pretty confident about the team he has. But to seriously compete for the Super Bowl next year, improvement needs to be made.
"Certainly I think they have to get better," Dan Pompei, of the Chicago Tribune, said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "I don't think they can delude themselves into thinking this group is good enough and everything will come from internal improvement."

In the NFC Championship loss to the Green Bay Packers, some areas of concern from earlier in the season reappeared. These concerns had been settled when the Bears started to rack up wins and won the NFC North.
"I Think the Packers game probably showed you a few things," Pompei said. "You need to get better in a few areas, and offensive line is one of those areas, defensive line is one of those areas, and probably the secondary is one of those areas. So yeah, there's some issues, no question."
You could probably add wide receiver to Pompei's list. While Devin Hester, Johnny Knox and Earl Bennett are good, the Bears lack a dominant receiver who can take over a game and get open at any point.
While the season might be over for the players, Angelo and the coaches have plenty of work to do evaluating the roster and preparing for the NFL Draft.
