Wheeling, Ill. (CBS) -- Residents in Fox Point Mobile Home Park along the Des Plaines River fought to save their homes last April and now they're trying to save them from the wrecking ball.

Community activist Raul Montes Jr. says the Village of Wheeling condemned some homes and ordered owners to do costly repairs even though the flood damage was minimal. He says it's because the mobile home park is 90 percent Hispanic.
"A lot of these people are probably un-documented. They are terrified, They are petrified about immigration. Even threatened with anonymous letter if you don't leave then immigration is going to come in," said Mones.
Montes says homeowners have hired experts to come in and check their homes for mold and the tests have come back negative.
He claims the Village wants to level the mobile home park in order to use the land for commercial development.
