Wheaton Middle School Cleaned Over Fears Of Stomach Bug
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- A Wheaton middle school was scrubbed down Monday, after many students and teachers called in sick with a gastrointestinal illness.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports classes were held as normal Monday at Edison Middle School, but after-school activities were cancelled so the building could be disinfected.
The school's website said several teachers and students called in sick with abdominal issues.
School officials worked with the DuPage County Health Department to make sure the school was cleaned and disinfected, to prevent any further spread of the illness.
Edison officials urged parents to keep kids at home if they still exhibit symptoms of a gastrointestinal illness. Most of those who have come down with the illness recovered in 24 to 48 hours.
