Sex Offender Caught Giving Out Halloween Candy: Prosecutors
(STMW) -- A registered sex offender was caught with Halloween decorations and candy at his front door by his parole officer Thursday in the West Town neighborhood.
Keith Carnes, 61, was charged with violation of the sex offender registration act, according to court records.
Carnes' parole officer was performing a check-up at his home in the 1600 block of West Lemoyne Avenue on Thursday, prosecutors said. He saw Halloween decorations and candy placed next to the door.
Carnes, as a child sex offender, was not allowed to participate in any Halloween activities, and had been reminded of that, prosecutors said.
He was ordered held on a $200,000 bond Friday by Judge Donald Panarese Jr.
Carnes was convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young boy he was related to between 1989 and 1996, according to court records. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
