11-Year-Old Boy Among 5 Hurt In West Town Home Invasion
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three home invaders wielding baseball bats and a gun beat and robbed a group of people inside a West Town neighborhood apartment early Wednesday, sending five to hospitals, according to Chicago Police.
They broke into the apartment about 1 a.m. in the 1800 block of West Chicago, taking three cellphones and about $180 in cash from the seven victims inside, police said.
Two men, ages 41 and 61, were hit in the head with bats and taken to Stroger Hospital. The older man was in serious condition, and the younger man's condition had stabilized, police said.
Two 61-year-old women were taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, with one hit in the shoulder. The other was robbed of a phone and cash, police said. An 11-year-old boy was also taken to Northwestern for evaluation after being knocked over during the attack.
A 13-year-old girl and 40-year-old woman inside the apartment each lost a phone, but were not hurt.
Police said the victims knew their attackers. No one was in custody early Wednesday.
