West Suburban Man Stabbed To Death In Home

LYONS, Ill. (STMW) - A man is dead after apparently being stabbed multiple times at his west suburban Lyons home during an altercation.

Police received a call of a person shot at a single-family home on the 4600 block of S. Cracow Ave. and found a man with "multiple wounds," according to a Lyons police release.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as 46-year-old Adrian Marquez, and said he suffered multiple stab wounds at his residence.

Police were releasing few details Monday night, but a neighborhood resident who did not want to be identified said police indicated Marquez was involved in an altercation in a gangway outside his home. The altercation then moved inside.

He was initially taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. An autopsy to determine the manner of death is scheduled for Tuesday.

The resident said Marquez has lived in the home about 2 ½ years with his wife and family. There are children who live in the home, but it was not immediately clear if they are Marquez's children.

The resident said Marquez and his family were likable and always said hello. "When you started talking to him, he didn't know when to stop," the resident said.

Police remained on the scene at 9:30 p.m., according to neighbors.

Lyons police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the murder. Nobody is in custody Monday night, police said.
