West Suburban Man Charged In Sex Assault Of Girl
SOMONAUK, Ill. (STMW) - A 27-year-old west suburban man has been charged with criminal sexual assault of a child. The suspect, James Wilson, of Somonauk, is the son of Matthew Wilson, a former Somonauk High School teacher who is facing charges of criminal sexual abuse himself.
James Wilson has been charged with felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department said Monday.
The Sheriff's Department said it initiated an investigation into the younger Wilson last Wednesday, after learning of allegations that Wilson had committed an act of sexual abuse against a girl under the age of 13.
James Wilson was living in the same household as Matthew Wilson at the time of his arrest, according to Sheriff's Chief Deputy Gary Dumdie.
Matthew Wilson, 53, of the 300 block of Washington Street, was charged with two counts of battery and unlawful restraint in November 2008 and aggravated criminal sexual abuse in December 2008, according to Dumdie. The charges stemmed from incidents in 2006 that involved three then-high school students, one a minor and two who were 17 years old.
Matthew Wilson's jury trial was scheduled to start Monday, but his attorney asked for a continuance last Friday, Dumdie said. The case is still pending.
Matthew Wilson was employed at Somonauk High School as a teacher in 2006, according to Dumdie.
Matthew Wilson was arrested in one incident after a female student complained he touched her inappropriately, police said in 2008. The alleged incident happened at Somonauk High.
