West Suburban Hospital Announces Layoffs
OAK PARK (CBS) -- Vanguard West Suburban Medical Center says it's eliminating 39 positions.
A spokeswoman says that includes some vacant positions - and some layoffs - and that they include nurses and administrative staff.
The spokeswoman issued a written statement which says the layoffs were necessary because of "declining volume and reductions in funding and receipt of payment from the state's Medicaid program."
West Suburban Medical Center is a 200-plus-bed facility - which now employs about 1,250 people.
It was bought by Tennessee-based Vanguard Health Systems in 2010.
