West Side Man Killed In South Side Drive-By
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A West Side man was shot and killed overnight in a drive-by incident in the South Side's Park Manor neighborhood.
Someone shot the man multiple times about 8 p.m. during a drive-by in the 7200 block of South Wabash Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The victim was identified as Alejandro Betancourt, 26, of the 2800 block of West Fillmore Street, and he was pronounced dead at 8:48 p.m. at Stroger Hospital of Cook County, according to the according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Police responded to a call of shots fired and witnesses told officers they heard four or five shots, according to Grand Crossing District police Lt. Dale Kingsley.
The victim was found lying on the ground in a gangway, shot twice in the left thigh, once in the forearm and once in the shoulder, Kingsley said.
Kingsley said a motive was not known early Wednesday. No arrests have been made.
