West Side Man Charged With 2011 Murder
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A West Side man has been charged with the November 2011 shooting death of a man in the Lawndale neighborhood.
Antonio Lewis, 29, of the 4300 block of West Gladys Avenue, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to police.
Lewis is accused of fatally shooting Maurice Vortes, 28, in the head about 9 p.m. Sept. 29, 2011, in the 1500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, police said.
Vortes, of the 1100 block of South Western Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Police said at the time the shooting was possibly gang-related.
Lewis is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
