West Rogers Park Fire Called 'Suspicious'
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire that broke out overnight in the West Rogers Park neighborhood has been deemed suspicious by police.
No one was hurt during the blaze that occurred about 4 a.m. at a building near the intersection of Arthur and California avenues, according to a Rogers Park District police lieutenant.
While it was not immediately known why, a battalion chief on the scene believed the fire was suspicious, so investigators from the police Bomb & Arson Section were notified, according to the lieutenant.
The city's Office of Fire Investigation is also investigating.
Authorities have not said what was on fire. Apartment buildings are located on the east side of the intersection of California and Arthur, while on the southwest corner is the Ark, a Jewish social service agency, and on the northwest corner is the Chicago Community Kollel for Advanced Torah Studies.
