Were The Seahawks Turned Into The Bears' Practice Squad?
The Seattle Seahawks never really had much of a chance in their Divisional Round matchup with the Chicago Bears. From the first drive of the game it was clear it wasn't going to be a good day for the Seahawks.
But as the Bears pulled away should they have gone easy on the Seahawks and dialed back their blitz packages and coverages? Were the wildcat plays run with the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers in mind?
"I felt like they were just doing stuff to do stuff," Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said. "Just trying to get all their coverages, all their blitzes on film for their next opponent."
You can look at Hasselbeck's comments one of two ways. On the one hand, the Bears shouldn't try to embarrass their opponent for the sake of giving the Packers more schemes to worry about.
On the other hand, if Hasselbeck and the Seahawks didn't like what the Bears were doing then maybe they should have stepped up and stopped them.
"I didn't think it made any sense really, to do what they were doing," Hasselbeck said. "You know, like even the wildcat throw, I mean I don't know what that was. And just, it seemed like they were just running every pressure that they had."
It appears as if Hasselbeck took some offense to the Bears turning a Divisional Round game into a practice, and turning the NFC West Champions into their practice squad.
But in all due respect, it looked like the Seahawks could have used some more practice time.
