Weekend Construction To Suspend Service On Part Of CTA Green Line
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Construction will suspend "L" service Saturday through Sunday on parts of the CTA Green Line.
Green Line service between the Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations will be temporarily suspended Saturday, 1:40 a.m. through Sunday, 11:40 a.m., the CTA said. Crews will continue working on the construction of the new Cermak-McCormick Place station.
Rail service between the Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations will again be suspended next weekend, Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18, the CTA said.
The future Green Line station at Cermak will fill a gap in service between the existing Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations and provide access to rail transit for neighborhood residents and businesses, including McCormick Place.
The completed station will feature elevators, bike racks, "state-of-the-art" security, enclosed boarding platforms and three entrances, according to the CTA. Work on the $50 million construction project began last fall and is managed by the Chicago Department of Transportation.
