Showers coming for morning rush Thursday in Chicago
Showers meet the Chicago area for the morning rush Thursday as a mid-level disturbance sweeps by our region.
Rain tapers off by early afternoon with only a few leftover sprinkles.
A warm front Friday will bring rain and thunderstorms with daybreak.
Once the front lifts to our north, southwest winds will gust to 40 mph and temperatures will soar into the middle 70s. It will be Sunny, windy and warm all afternoon Friday.
On Saturday, we will hit our daytime high in the morning, and then temperatures will fall throughout the day. Scattered showers are likely.
Sunday will also feature showers and falling temperatures during the day. Current model data is favoring a colder day with storm threats farther south, into central and southern Illinois.
The Storm Prediction Center is trending farther south with the severe threat.
Right now, it seems Chicago will be too cold for storms. However, if the storm track brings warm air to our communities south of I-80, those areas could have strong/severe storms.
