Waukegan Woman Charged With Murdering Daughter
(CBS) -- A mother has been charged with the murder of her 11-year-old daughter in Waukegan.
Nicolette Lawrence, 32, is charged with first degree murder as investigators say she is responsible for the death of her own daughter.
Medics found 11-year-old Raasania Coley unresponsive in a home in the 300 block of Gillette Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.
According to Waukegan Police, Lawrence told investigators she hit Raasania in her stomach earlier that week. The Lake County Coroner confirmed she had a torn stomach resulting from blunt force trauma and those injuries led to the girl's death.
Her two other children are with relatives as Lawrence is being held at the Lake County Jail with $5 million bond.
