Watch: White Sox Fan Snags Flying Bat Like It's No Big Deal
(CBS) For all the attention that fouls balls draw at baseball games, flying bats often tend to incite complete opposite reactions. Most fans duck, take cover and want little to do with 35 ounces of wood flying at their heads.
Again, most fans. The exception to that rule was a White Sox supporter who saw her squad earn a 6-2 win against the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field on Memorial Day. In the bottom of the second inning, White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers lost the grip on his bat, and it went flying behind the third-base dugout.
As others around her ducked, the brave lady smoothly nabbed the one-hopping bat with her right hand, helping protect a small child sitting behind her.
Well done.
