Watch: 'Wasted' UC Santa Barbara Fan Runs Onto Court, Confronts Hawaii Coach
(CBS) During play last night, a UC Santa Barbara fan ran onto the court and angrily confronted visiting Hawaii coach Gib Arnold after Arnold had picked up a technical foul arguing a call. To get on the court from the stands, the fan simply walked down the aisle and between an open space between the scorer's table and chairs, and security failed to respond in immediate fashion.
The fan was pushed away by a Hawaii player before running back to the stands. He was eventually escorted out of the arena, and ESPN later reported he was arrested.
No punches or anything of that sort were throw, so fortunately the situation didn't escalate.
"It doesn't concern me,'' Arnold said, according to ESPN. "It's rare. I hope security would be better. The guy was wasted and in a different world. It is what it is. You can't control crazies. That's why they're crazy."
"I've never seen anything like that," Arnold said.
