Watch: Somehow, Predators' Craig Smith Blocks His Own Point-Blank Game-Winner
(CBS) Predators winger Craig Smith had a point-blank look at a game-winner in overtime against the Canadiens on Monday night, no resistance in front of him whatsoever, just a wide-open net waiting to absorb the puck.
Smith properly corralled a pass, flicked the puck in frame ... and then somehow blocked his own shot with his stick in a rarely, if ever before, seen occurrence. How is that even possible?
Check out the video.
Smith would get his redemption, scoring the winning goal in a shootout.
"It's kind of funny now," Smith told reporters of his ability to seemingly violate the laws of physics. "But it wasn't funny at the time."
