Watch: Jose Abreu's Unorthodox Home Run
(CBS) -- White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu hit one of the most unorthodox home runs you will every see Tuesday night in Boston.
In the sixth inning, Abreu hit a drive to right field that Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts caught in his glove, only to have the ball pop out after he tumbled over the outfield wall into the bullpen.
The play was initially ruled a catch, but the call was overturned after a challenge by White Sox manager Robin Ventura. The MLB states a player must "hold the ball long enough to prove that he has complete control of the ball and that his release of the ball is voluntary and intentional."
After the play, Betts left the game with an injury.
