WATCH: Bucktown Grocery Employees Turn Tables On Robbers
(CBS) – Grocers take down would-be robbers in Bucktown, and it's caught on camera.
CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reports no the surveillance tape and what went down.
The incident occurred at Fresh Market Place in Bucktown when masked suspects pulled out guns on two cashiers.
Surveillance video shows two men cornering three female cashiers and grabbing all the money they can get their hands on. But one employee is not having it and fights back.
Then several employees follow, chasing the suspects into the parking lot, where the scuffle continues.
Determined employees were able to keep one of the robbers down long enough for police to arrive. The other suspect got away.
One employee who had been hit over the head is seen crawling back into the store.
"If something happens you have to be there for the other person," employee Carmen Hernandez says.
The robber who got away made off with more than $10,000. It turns out the guns used in this hold-up were fake.
The store was held-up in a similar fashion just two weeks ago.
The injured employee is expected to be okay.
