Washington Heights Blaze Leaves 2 Firefighters Hospitalized
CHICAGO (STMW) - Two firefighters were injured while battling a house fire in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side Sunday afternoon.
The fire started about 12:55 p.m. at a vacant house at 10506 S. May St., according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor.
One fireman was hit in the chest and the other was banged in the the head with something while battling the blaze, according to MacGregor.
While their injuries were "traumatic'' they were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good to fair condition, according to MacGregor.
No one else was injured and the fire was extinguished in a half an hour, he said.
