Warning Issued After String Of Armed Robberies On NW Side
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police in a handful of Northwest Side districts have issued an advisory to neighborhood 7-Eleven and Subway stores of a recent spate of armed robberies.
According to a Community Alert issued by Grand Central Area detectives, the robbers, described as black males between 18 and 30 years old, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall with medium builds, entered the businesses armed with a handgun, and demanded the money from the registers.
In two incidents they also took property from customers.
The robbers may be driving a black 4-door vehicle, possibly a Chrysler, according to the alert. These incidents have occurred in the Shakespeare, Austin, Albany Park, and Grand Central police districts.
The Subway robberies have occurred between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., while the 7-Eleven robberies have occurred between 11 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.
